Postpartum Chiropractic Care
Postpartum recovery is not about bouncing back. It is about rebuilding.
Pregnancy and delivery change your body in ways that take time and intentional care to address. Many new mothers experience:
- Core weakness that makes daily movements feel harder
- Lower back and hip pain as your body redistributes weight after pregnancy
- Neck and shoulder tension from feeding and carrying your baby
- C-section scar discomfort that can affect how your core feels and moves
- Diastasis recti: a separation of the abdominal muscles that affects core stability
- Pelvic floor symptoms that show up as leaking, pressure, or pain
These are not small inconveniences. They are common, real changes that deserve real support. Dr. Natalie works with mothers at every stage of recovery, whether you are 6 weeks or 2 years postpartum.
What Postpartum Chiropractic Care Looks Like in Mississauga
Treatment focuses on the areas that carry the most strain after pregnancy and delivery: the lower back, pelvis, and hips. Dr. Natalie Lopez uses hands-on manual therapy, including soft tissue work, joint mobilization, and targeted adjustments, to address persistent discomfort, restore movement, and support your recovery as you care for your new baby.
Each appointment begins with a conversation about where you are in your recovery and what you are feeling. There is no standard treatment plan. Your care is built around your specific history and symptoms.
Is Chiropractic Care Safe After Pregnancy?
Care is always adapted to where your body is in its recovery. Dr. Natalie takes time to understand your birth experience, your current symptoms, and your goals before she does anything. She explains everything in plain language, and you are in control the entire time.
“Natalie is the best! I’ve been seeing her for about 4 years, initially she helped relieve my neck and shoulder stiffness, and this past year she’s helped me through my pregnancy and postnatal health. She knew exactly where my body would be feeling the strain of pregnancy and was able to relieve the tension I didn’t know I had!”

The Tip Top Health Process
Dr. Natalie works with you to address what pregnancy and delivery left behind.
pregnancy chiropractor for prenatal chiropractic care during your pregnancy.
Gentle chiropractic adjustments
Adapted for postpartum, using techniques and positioning that keep you comfortable throughout.
Core and pelvic floor rehabilitation
Dr. Natalie uses the GROWCO framework to support core and pelvic floor rehabilitation. GROWCO is a postnatal rehab approach that helps address core coordination, pelvic floor function, rib and pelvic alignment, and progressive return to activity. Dr. Natalie is a GROWCO Ambassador.
C-section recovery support
Scarring from a c-section can affect how your core feels and moves. Dr. Natalie works with the scar tissue using progressive mobilization and soft tissue techniques to help restore normal movement and reduce discomfort.
Return to activity guidance
Dr. Natalie is trained in evidence-based return-to-activity guidelines for postpartum mothers. She helps you understand what your body is ready for and builds a plan around that.
What Is GROWCO?
GROWCO is a postnatal rehabilitation framework created to address a gap in how mothers are supported after birth.
The standard 6-week postpartum checkup tells you if your body has healed enough to return to normal activity. It does not tell you how to rebuild the strength, coordination, and function that pregnancy and delivery temporarily changed.
GROWCO fills that gap. It is a structured rehabilitation approach that supports progressive recovery, addressing:
- Core coordination and stability
- Pelvic floor function
- Rib and pelvic alignment
- Progressive return to running and exercise
Dr. Natalie is a GROWCO Ambassador. She uses the GROWCO framework to support every postpartum patient’s recovery, whether your goal is to run a 5K again, pick up your toddler without pain, or simply move through the day without aching.
What Your First Visit Looks Like
Thorough assessment first.
Dr. Natalie spends time understanding your pregnancy history, symptoms, and what makes you uncomfortable. She examines how your spine, hips, and pelvis are functioning, not just where it hurts. No rushing to the table.
Clear explanation.
She tells you exactly what she is finding, in plain language. You will understand what is going on and why before any treatment begins.
Treatment that day.
If it makes sense for your case, treatment starts at your first visit. You will not leave without a plan tailored to your stage of pregnancy or postpartum recovery.
Home support.
You leave with specific things you can do between visits to support your recovery, such as movement cues, breathing exercises, or gentle strengthening work adapted to where your body is at.
What Our Patients Say
You book directly, and your first visit includes time to talk through your history, a physical assessment, and treatment if appropriate for your case.
Postpartum FAQs
How soon after delivery can I start postpartum care?
Many new moms start within the first few weeks after a vaginal delivery. If you had a c-section, Dr. Natalie will work with your timeline and adapt care to your recovery stage. There’s no expiry — meaningful change is possible whether you’re 6 weeks or 2 years postpartum.
Can chiropractic care help with breastfeeding-related discomfort?
Yes. Breastfeeding often causes neck and shoulder tension from sustained feeding positions. Dr. Natalie uses soft tissue release and gentle spinal work to address the tension that builds up from repeated feeding sessions. Many mothers find meaningful relief within a few visits.
I had a c-section. Is there a specific timeline I should follow?
Not exactly. C-section recovery is different for everyone. Dr. Natalie will assess how your scar is healing, how your core is responding, and what areas are causing you discomfort. She adapts her approach to your recovery stage and works around what your body is ready for. There is no pressure to push through anything that does not feel right.
Do I need a referral to see a chiropractor in Ontario?
No. You do not need a referral. Chiropractic is a primary health care service in Ontario. You can book directly without seeing a doctor first.
When is it safe to return to exercise after having a baby?
This is one of the most common questions Dr. Natalie hears, and the answer depends on your individual recovery. She uses evidence-based guidelines to assess when your body is ready to handle specific levels of exercise. The goal is a progressive, safe return built on a stable core.
How is GROWCO different from standard postpartum care?
Standard postpartum care typically means a 6-week check to clear you for normal activity. GROWCO goes further. It is a structured rehabilitation framework that supports core coordination, pelvic floor function, alignment, and progressive loading so you can safely return to the activities you want to do. Dr. Natalie uses it to support postpartum recovery plans when appropriate.
What if I am nervous about treatment?
That is normal, and it is okay to say so. Dr. Natalie takes time to explain everything before she does it, answers all your questions, and goes at your pace. Nothing happens without your understanding and consent. If you are nervous about treatment, tell her at the start of your visit.
Is it too late to get postpartum support if I had my baby years ago?
No. Meaningful recovery is possible at any stage of postpartum. Many mothers come in months or years after delivery because they are still dealing with lingering back pain, hip discomfort, core weakness, or pelvic floor symptoms. The body continues to respond to targeted care long after the initial postpartum period. You do not need to feel like you missed your window.
